1. The Heir of David
   • Isaiah 11:1 -- "Jesse... out of his roots"
     Jesse was the father of David. The tree is cut off, but the "roots" speak of the heir in the person of Christ, and the promises of God to David.
   • 2Samuel 7:16,17 -- "Established for ever"
   • Psalm 89:3,4 -- "Sworn unto David... throne"
   • Psalm 89:27 -- "Higher than the kings of the earth"
   • Luke 1:32,33 -- "Throne... father David"
2. The King's power
   • Isaiah 11:2,3 -- "The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him"
   • Revelation 1:4 -- "The seven Spirits which are before His throne." The sevenfold, or complete, Spirit.
     1. Romans 8:2 -- "The Spirit of life"
     2. Romans 8:15 -- "The Spirit of adoption [sonship]" (see Galatians 4:6)
     3. Ephesians 1:13 -- "Spirit of promise"
     4. 2Timothy 1:7 -- "Spirit of... power"
     5. John 14:17 -- "Spirit of truth"
     6. Ephesians 1:17 -- "Spirit of wisdom"
     7. 1Peter 4:14 -- "Spirit of glory"
3. The character of His reign
   • Isaiah 11:3 -- "Not judge after... eyes... ears." But in view of all the facts.
   • Isaiah 11:4 -- "Judge the poor... meek... slay the wicked"
   • Isaiah 11:5 -- "Righteousness." This is the great kingdom word, and means "doing right" (see Matthew 5 - 7).
   • Isaiah 11:6-8 -- "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb"
   • Isaiah 11:9 -- "Earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord" (see Habakkuk 2:14)
   • Isaiah 11:10 -- "To it shall the Gentiles seek"
   • Acts 15:16,17 -- "The residue of men might seek after the Lord"
4. How the kingdom is set up
   • Isaiah 11:11,12 -- "In that day" (see Jeremiah 23:3-8)
   • Jeremiah 30:3-7 -- "I will cause them to return to the land." Verses 5-7 refer to the great tribulation.
   • Jeremiah 30:8-22 -- "They shall serve the Lord their God"
   • Matthew 24:29,30 -- "Tribulation... Son of Man coming"
